We did it!!

Just passed! Arizona Dept of Ag. MAY participate in NAIS if it wants, BUT they can NOT force anyone to participate if he/she chooses not to.

If anyone in AZ is being pressured, let Senator Johnson know.

The system worked. This senator continually e-mailed bill information to a LOT of people, gave names & e-mail addresses of committee members, etc. Letters were e-mailed to members, people showed up to testify...

every little morsel of freedom left in this country is sure to be savored by those who appreciate what they have. AMEN Arizona !! Now imagine if the governor deployed whatever National Guard remains in the state on the border and enforced no entry for illegals. I just might consider moving there.

Keep in mind NAIS is a federal program and if Arizona decides to join in the Feds laws over rule the state laws, making what you were just told nul and void. In other words you are nowhere near outta the woods yet.

The MO senate just passed a bit prohibiting anyone in MO from participating in NAIS. Now it is going to the house.

Great news for both AZ and MO. Hope Missouri gets it pushed all the way.

End Of The Road: Legally state laws override fed ones. The feds have bullied people for so long that people have forgotten how it was in the beginning. I don't have the info in front of me right now, but the laws closest to the people are the strongest, so city overrides county, county overrides state, state overrides federal. Our system has been working backwards for so long that people think that's the way the laws work.

Wish you were right Spinner but you are not. A good example is brewing your own booze. As long as you do it within federal laws the locals can pass all the laws they want against it and you can still brew your own. Another good example is the laws on "wacky tobaccy", locals (city /county /state) can make it legal or at least decrimalize it (and some areas did) but the Feds still busted em' anyway, and they are still rotting in jail even after using your defense. Like I said, I wish you were right but I am not aware of any cases where local laws trumped federal laws if the feds want to push it.

Don't mean to argue, but yes I am right. The feds busting the CA pot growers that have permission from the state is a prime example of federal bullying. The feds are wrong, but they will bully their way right into the state and do whatever they want. That is against the law, but they are getting away with it because the state is not standing up to enforce their states rights. It's the civil war all over again. States rights are being trampled. As far as I know the only person who is daring the feds to take them to court is one county in AZ. The county commissioner has been bullying the feds right back and the feds have backed down. He claims that they won't take him to court because they know he would win. Can you imagine the effect that would have when the media got ahold of it? It might catch on and more counties and even states might start claiming their lawful rights. What kind of condition would that leave the feds in if all the states claimed their lawful states rights?

Yes I did. LOL I should have said that the feds will bully their way right into the states and do whatever they want until the states grow a backbone and start standing up for their rights. The law is on the side of the states, but like individual people the states have gotten lazy and set back letting someone else take responsibility. The feds stepped up to the plate and grabbed the power, even tho they legally don' t own that power.

hanlon5: Google NAIS. There's a section on the home page regarding individual states.

Spinner: Which county? What's the topic?

I don't remember the name of the county, I think it's the one where they have set up the tents for prisoners. The convicts complained that they wanted coffee with breakfast and were told that they can have all the coffee they want just as soon as they finish serving their time, get out, get a job, and buy some. I might be wrong, it might be a different county. I first read about it in Readers Digest, and have since seen clips on TV and in other mags.
