Here is a website, having never bought this stuff I don't know what prices should be. But in my experience living in the middle of nowhere, sometimes the best way to get the things you want is to buy them online. I would rather buy online that to drive around to 10 different places or call long distance to look for something most people have never heard of!

You may have to order it from a catalog or online if you can't find it locally -- all depending on how much you might need.

Check this out for Kelp Meal - http://www.gardeners.com/on/demandwa...eSearch2-Start

And this one at the same website for green sand - http://www.gardeners.com/Greensand-T...ult/07-207.prd

The prices don't look too bad unless you want a LOT of it.

This place is in IN. Don't know if it's near you. They have the Kelp Meal, but not the Green Sand - http://www.gardensalive.com/

If you PM me exactly where you're interested in finding it, I will see if I can find more information in your area -- Indiana and Bloomington hasn't turned up anything yet.

Good luck!

MaryNY

I have found Kelp meal at feed stores in the central Illinois Amish community. Are you close to any Amish?

Thanks for the leads. Gardens Alive is about 2 1/2 hours from us We are actually looking at some fairly large quanity usage for organic fertilization and animal minerals....the sulfate of potash may do the trick for fertilization this year, though. Those organic traditions products are over double the price I can buy them for locally...they just don't carry too many kinds locally. Go figure.

Just regular kelp should be about $35/50 lb bag. If you're interested, I can see if I can find my link.

Is the meal just ground kelp?

Christina - I've got a source. Email me and I'll dig it out for you. She's actually closer to you than she is to me.
