At least some good
came from the late season blast of cold we experienced here in Mo.
That frigid front cost me all of my fruit, apricots already had fruit setting on and the apples, pears, and plums were in full bloom.
But, I was driving by a big box store about 10 days ago and I noticed a lot of trees in containers with the leaves brown, dead, and drooping. I stopped to look and thought I could see a little green starting to reappear.
The manager came along and said "I would make you a good deal on some of those", I told him there wasn't any good deal possible on a lot of dead sticks. He told me to pick through them and take all I wanted at $5.00 ea. and guaranteed them to live or my money back.
I loaded up on dwarf Moorpark apricot trees and a couple of different kinds of dwarf peach trees. When I looked this morning every one of them had leafed out and looked great.
Sure is nice to hit a lucky lick once in a while, kind of makes up for the loss of this year's crop.
