Ih cub cadet

I am a real fan of the ih cub cadets produced between 1960 and 1980,i would like to get a feeling for how many other people on this forum are using these great little tractors. I am the proud owner of two cubs , a 1450 and a 1650 made in 1976.

1782 deisel here. love my Cub Cadet. Now, if I could just find out WHY the belt the PTO requires is 4" longer this year that the requirements! SIL says deck is in the right spot, etc. snaps anything else.
And getting them worked of is soo high--not that they need it often.....

I have 20 of them on my place now, have had as many as 50 at any one time. I sell parts for them, too. I have the first IH Cub Cadet ever to appear on the cover of "Red Power Magazine." It is a restored 122 with Haban sickle mower.

My neighbor has two old Cub Cadets that he picked up at yardsales and restored. Both look like new, but he won't use them, because it might scratch the paint and get the deck dirty. He also has two red Farmall Cub tractors with belly mowers on them that he restored. He does mow a little with the newer one. The oldest one is a 1959 model. He has a set of cultivaters for them.

Cub Cadet is now Owned by MTD they make very good lawn mowers as well as snowblowers, just a FYI, in case a few did not know that.

I have some I use, and some to look at, and some I restored and sold for others to use. The one in the pic is an exact restoration, and I won't be using it. Took 2 1/2 years to do it! I have her sister, a 102, another exact resto.

There is no way anything made by MTD equals those old IH built CCs, or the very earliest ones after MTD bought the company from IH (when MTD was basically using the IH parts inventory to build them). Those old machines were absolute tanks!

I mow with a 1811, till with a 129, have a 782 with a loader, a 123 with a back blade, etc. Very handy machines.

If anyone ever needs parts, please PM me. I have a lot of stuff, from Originals (the 60-61-62-63 models) through the early '80s. I might could help.

The IH Cub Cadet's I own are:

3 - 122's
1 - 123
1 - 125
1 - 1200

It is nice not having to change implements every season.
Just hop on a differant IH Cub Cadet !

I have a highly modified 128 that I play with for 300' at a time, and just last weekend picked up a 1650 to do the work around the house with.

cub

I have a cub Low boy 185-60 inch deck, It was my main mower but due to time constraints have upgraded , it still works great still but is starting to have a little blue smoke, Now I mainly use it to pull a wagon around the property to pick up sticks and carry the chain saw ect or for the wife to use,Great old mower and will probably be selling in the future to someone looking for one to restore. They seem like they just keep going and going and going .To bad they don,t build them the same today, I would buy another one if they did.

Hi, I've had several cubs but one I bought 3 years ago is nothing but trouble. I had one for 22 years and it was a bear but this is a nightmare. I replaced the powertakeoff at the cost of almost $3oo.oo and it still sounds nasty. I bought a John Deere 17 horse and so far is a charm. They just don't make the cubs like they used to. My opinion only.
