anybody ever use clear "corrugated polypropylene"?

Here's some: http://packaginghelper.com/CorrugatedPlastic.html

Only they want something like $400 for some here. It seems like it should be about three bucks a sheet.

I'm thinking it would be good for greenhouses, chicken coops and maybe for insulation on windows where you aren't too concerned about the view!

It just seems there can be lots of uses for this sort of thing on the farm, but .... if only I could get my hands on a few pieces so I can tinker with it .... anybody tried it?

corrugated plastic

I have used the corrugated plastic in my cold frame with very good results. However, I recommend the kind made specifially made for greenhouse use since it will be treated for UV and last a long time. You can get it a about any greenhouse supply company - it is expensive - I found in some places the shipping was unreal! You might also try a local greenhouse that uses it. It is great stuff!

I didn't build my cold frame properly and had water get into the channels - you will want to use caulk or something to prevent that.

My impression is that this stuff is so cheap that they use it for packing material.

Different stuff?

Good point on the caulk!

The stuff listed on that link I gave says it is UV resistant.

I've see it used for signs, the kind that political canadates use, with a bent wire thru it and stuck into the ground. Not very strong, easy to crease and then floppy there. I also used some to wrap fruit trees. Mice and rabbits don't chew thru it. Just wrap it around the tree and use a zip tie to hold it around the trunk.

I have used it for many years. Go to Home Depot and get it there. It is not as stron as tin but will last a long time. I used mine on a rood to let a light sign through. Be sure the coregated fits any tin that you are going to use so that you can get a tight seal.

You might have a look at Farmtek.http://www.farmtek.com/farm/supplies..._panels_1.html
The polycarbonate may be more expensive but more durable.

we use it for our sign business, called coroplast, maybe it isn't the polycarbonate.
We used some white coro to make a nifty collapsible brooder.

Postal carrying boxes

It looks like the stuff the boxes are made out of that postal workers use.

Go to a post office and ask to see one to see if you think it would work for you.

Basically plastic cardboard without much strength.

vinyl sing makers use it for cheap sign media. might go by a "fast signs' sort of place and ask for some scrap.

I checked out both links and the corrugated plastic appears to be exactly the same thing, dont know about the thickness on the first link though farm teks is 4mm. I cant see why it would not work, seems to be really expensive to ship though so a local place would be needed. sis
