Porcupines!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate blank blank Porcupines. What their purpose is in life except to damage things and create misery I don't know. 8 month old puppy had a nose full of quills this morning. Porcupine got in the goat pen somehow. If I find that SOB - it is lead poisoning time for him/her. In the meantime I'll give it a name Hillary. :-)

We don't have them here but I've dealt with their destruction in the past. nothing can clean the rubber off of tires or chew belts and hoses off a car like a porcupine.

Fordy what part of texas are you in? I have them here......ask 3 of my dogs about 'em. Why the vet? I've pulled 'em from my dogs nose fine. If they are deep or in the mouth then the vet is needed but I've found if you cut the tips off and then pull they aren't to hard. It's like they are filled with air or such to give them the puffyness.
Yucca Good Luck with the pup.

...............I'm 25 miles west of Foat Worth , same thing with rattle snakes , I've been here since may\1977 and I've never seen a rattler although I've killed several copperheads . Once you get west of the brazos fresh water gets hard to find and rattlers get more numerous I've been told . fordy...

The only thing they are good for up here is chewing on my cabin and tree stands. I feed the darn crows every time I see one.

You are right if you cut off the ends of the quills they deflate and the barbs retract and are easier to pull. Pup only had 14 quills. Gave her a Tylenol 3 with codiene in a hot dog, an hour later I pulled the quills - she hardly moved. Of course she's a pretty good sized 70 pound "pup". She's all better now and none the worse, maybe smarter (but I doubt it). I learned about the cutting the ends off the quills from my vet.

I have a 22 cal that has a laser red dot sight on it that I usually use for night shooting of armadiggers. Guess if there is any fuss tonight I'll hopefully get a Porky. Put the red dot/laser beam on him and pull the trigger. Can even shoot from the hip.

People have been seeing them up here, northeast of Dallas. Nasty things, hope they stay away from us.

If you have to spend a night in the woods, they make a nice, easy to catch meal.

Big Dave Armidios are born dead on the midle of the road. That is the only place you can find them. I don't have porcupines here but Armidalos are pleantifuf here. They have a small head about the sise of my thumb and have only one thing on their mind at one time.

Asking the Voice Of Experience: Is it spelled Armidios or Armidalos?

The one I ate tasted like Pine-Sol flavored styrofoam and was packed with tapeworms.

Where's that barfin' smiley?
