I would either mount a hotwire on it or wrap it with several layers of 4 barb wire.

I assume guide wire is on his property?

Put a fly oiler on it and let em use it. I seriously doubt they are going to pull it down.

You can't keep a cow from rubbing on stuff....it's what cows do....only solution is to fence them away from it.

You need to build a board fence around the wire. Set a post out beyond where the wire is anchored and then set one straight in line with wire on the electric pole side. Then put 3 boards on both sides to keep the cows off.

is wire on his property if so there is not a thing you can do legally. the utility co. may put a barbed rod on it.....but my cows love it. anyway our cows have been rubing guy wires for 60 years here has never caused a problem. i once snagged one with a batwing bushhog....wires whipped around but no damage...thank goodness.

I wouldn't worry about it. The cows aren't going to pull anything down. And it's guy wire, not guide wire.

Shaking the guy wire can cause the elec to surge, from my understanding.

My cattle/horses actually managed to break the wire! You could see the pole lean a bit and the wires were a little lower. Utility company came and put another wire in.

Around here, they put a pipe with fence staples welded on it over the guy wire. The cows try to rub it they get a painful poke and they go find something else to play with.

The pole is on his property or yours? I don't think I would do anything with the pole if it's on his property, If it's on your then you can do what you want and what the utility will allow. I would contact the utility company since it sounds like your neighbor isn't cooperative.
