3rd Annual Muller's Lane Farm Homesteading Weekend

We've set the date for the weekend of June 23-24, 2007.

We're located in NW IL (between Rock Falls & Tampico)

Folks are welcome to come the night before to set up camp.

If you have skills you'd like to demonstrate, please let us know so we can accomodate you.

If you're looking to learn something new, let us know so we can see if it can be arranged.

Some of things we can/will be demonstrating include:

Working with draft horses
Beekeeping
Blacksmithing
Soap making
Cooking on wood stove
Cast iron cooking over open fire
Spinning
Weaving
Knitting
Crocheting
Making Cheese
Making Butter
Animal Husbandry

Meals will be potluck.
Camping is available (or hotels close by in town)
Bring a musical instrument for night time entertainment!

We do ask that you do not bring dogs since we are a working homestead with animals of our own.

If you have any questions, feel free to call 815-625-2607!

Hooray!!!

Our first year, Carla Emery was here. One of the things she emphasized was to keep in touch with like-minded folks.

That year was the last year of the Spoon River Homesteading Weekend so we decided to pick up the ball and keep it going.

I'm hoping we can make it. As of now, we have the day open.

I was so happy when you mentioned earlier the weekend of the 16th since I really wanted to go this year. But, the 23rd & 24th is my daughter's 4-H club's annual open horse show, so I will have to miss the MLHW again. Maybe next year! I would love to meet you all and see the Muller homestead!

Camping?

Is this camping on your homestead? We are in virginia and that is our anniversary weekend and we are talking about driving there for this. Sounds like fun.

Yes, camping will be at the homestead. Granted, we don't have electrical camping outlets or water hookups, but there is space if folks want to camp.

It's our anniversary weekend too!

A handful so far ... 3-4 families. I'm sure it will pick up as we get closer. Hoping it will be in the next Countryside.

I know that Pony and Nick will be here! That alone is worth the trip!!!!

Depending on what way you come, 1.5 - 2 hours. If you travel 26 over to Freeport blacktop (road right before the RR tracks) then it's about 45 minutes from that intersection.

How much will you miss? Hard to say - it depends on who shows up and what we decide to do that day ... (we don't have a plan and we're sticking to it!)

I'm sure we can talk Pony into bringing her guitar again for the Saturday night jam session with Paul on the banjo and/or guitar!

Get their address from their website and mapquest it. That should answer the question with a fair degree of accuracy.

He would!!

Tell Dave a little longer than it takes us to get to your place.... that's only because Paul moves faster when he knows there is cake waiting at your place!
