Is it cold enough for ya!!!!! Northeast?
To those of us in the northeast. What do you think about this cold snap. Here it seems to be the coldest all winter. This morning it was -5 then the high was 6. It's already -4. I figure it will be -10 by morning. How you all dealing with this cold?
At least the weather man says it should be better next week.

That is as bad from your perspective as our overnight lows of 23F here on the Pacific.
But that was January. This is March. Usual weather is 50's and 60's during the day, and 40's at night. But today it hit 76F.
Which is cold enough for me.

I think we're past our below zero air temp/windchill days here in my neck of the woods. I remember January 1982, was -28 or so air temp, -60 windchill. That is my new cold threshhold. Otherwise I just use the words brisk or invigorating. Cold is a state of mind.

I tell you what after twenty minutes out in that weather my finger tips were numb this morning. Once the winds calmed down it wasn’t so bad.
Reminds me – better put some more wood in the stove…

it has been kind of a long winter, for me, anyway. At least daylight savings comes early. . . I hope this is the 'last gasp' of really cold weather here where I live in Me. Cold, I dont mind, but really bitter & winds, gets tiring. Of course I'm just a whiney baby, anyway.

I live in Maine and just looked at the temp -10. The wood stove is going good so my plan is to go start a pot of stew on top of the wood stove.

Old man winter is really being a pain here: showed up late and now wants to stay on and on long after the party's over.
I have seedlings that are ready for the coldframe! Lambs are nearly here...
Go away old man!
BTW, that lying groundhog needs to retire!

I told myself confidently two weeks ago, "well, THAT sure did it for winter, it's almost MARCH!" Big joke on me! The last two days have been the coldest in the winter here for me. And guess what, I'd bred a big bunch of rabbits for early March, too, but so far they seem to be doing ok in the unheated barn. I thought it was going to be popsicle kits for sure! It's been a funny year.
Max, I hear you. I hate the heat, too.

It got down to -2 here last night. Oh, and the furnace died yesterday!

Northeast, eh? My hose was frozen yesterday and I needed it to wash off the crust of ice on my windshield. So much for spring in Florida!

Florida has some of the strangest weather Ive ever heard of. Subtripocal climate, hotter than the blazes in the summer, and even get some frost in the winter.

-23°F this morning. Yesterday was far worse and we had 40 mph winds with higher gusts. The wind chill was between -50°F and -80°F. I didn't get an accurate reading of the low because the wind packed snow against our north east wall covering the thermometer probe and thus insulating it by at least 30°F.
Cheers

Highlands... If I were You I'd be praying for global warming.
We are here. LOL
How are those piggies doin' with the extreme cold? I'm getting some little ones next week. Can I keep them in the loafing shed? They will be 8 weeks.

Someone better shoot that groundhog or at least make him sit outside and see what he did wrong this year
We live in MA about 20 miles from the NH border. I had turned off the chickens heater and put it away. Silly me had thought winter was over. The bunnies were just starting to not look so smutty. Hmph..think they thought winter was over too. 2 sleds of wood later in 2 days in the woodstove and I can tell winters not over yet. Someone want to pay the heating bill for the northeast so that we can get some warmth around here
Not sure how cold it's been but when you plug your deisel car in and it still doesn't want to start in the morning. Means it's pretty dang cold.
THINK SPRING! THINK SPRING! (Is thinking it working yet?)
