John Deere STX46 - Lawn tractor

Does anyone have any thoughts on whether this particular lawn tractor is a good 'used' purchase? It's listed at $1,500 CND.
I need something to mow about 2-3 acres around the house. I'm really tired of pushing my lawnmower when I could be doing lots of other worthwhile work (like building fences and polebarns!)

The STX series were John Deeres answer to the low cost market. STX actually stand for Suburban Tractor Experiment. They are not bad machines but $1500 is alot of dough for one. I would probably sell one in the $500 to $700 range. You would be better to find a 200 series like a 212 or a 318 both are heavily built for the long run. The bigger tractors are also lots better running any other attachment (tiller, snow thrower etc). Tom in Lancaster PA
