chest freezer storage area

How do I convert the square footage of a chest freezer into the number of pounds of meet it will hold? I plan on buying a half of beef this fall and need to know what size freezer I will need to hold it.

I don't know a formula, but I know---A small freezer, 7cft will hold a 1/2 of a cut up beef without a problem(we might have small cows here), but the meat should be frozen when you bring it home to put it into the freezer---what I am saying is if you stack 1/2 of a beef unfrozen in a small freezer---it will take days and days for it to freeze solid. Good Luck!! Randy

i dont think you could figure that because its not gonna pack in there like bricks its alll wrapped different and all different sizes. i would think any 10 to 12 cubic feet would be a plenty and you would have some room for other things. seems like once you start freezing you can never have enough room in a freezer so bigger is better i would think with a freezeer.
