Keeping buggies out of the wood pile?

We had a wood pile back in GA and MAN it was full of black widows, brown recluses..you name it.

I HATE spiders (minus one I named Brenda..she was a cool forest spider living in our basement. MIL vacuumed her up though lol). I would probably just pass out if I saw one in the woodpile.

How do you keep buggies and spiders out of your wood when it's outside?

Before we stack the wood, I put some Diatomaceous Earth (DE) powder down on the ground, then a couple of times during the stacking I will thrown a little on the wood. It seems to really keep the bugs down. Many nurseries/garden supply places now carry DE, but you can sometimes get it at large organic grocery stores.

You can also get it at a pool supply. It's used in the filter.

The people in northern Indiana keep their buggies in the barn with the horses.

You can always tell an Amish driving horse. He has a buggy behind!
