I sure hope they come up with some computer fix for a permanent time change on the computers. Right now they say to just "do it manually". Well, knowing how smart my computers are, I figure when I turn them on the day after I change it, they'll have cranked themselves back to Standard Time, and I'll only wind up changing it again!

doing away with the time change

Why can't we just get rid of the time change all together?

If we Spring forward 30 minutes and then don't mess with it again.

Just a thought.

Blessings,

around here, in July, it starts getting light at quarter to 5, even with the clocks set 1 hour ahead. I dont know if I want it getting light at quarter to 4. I like the 1 hour advance.

I need to reset my time on my computer? I thought that it did it itself. I don't remember doing it before...

(But, fortunately, there are many things that I don't remember. [I'd be a GREAT "crooked" POLITICIAN......Quote: "Not that I recall."])

The reason you have to do it manually this time is because it is starting a couple weeks earlier and running a couple of weeks longer than previously. In fact I think daylight savings time now runs for more days than "standard" time does.

Think Green!

The purpose of daylight savings time is to make better use of the natural daylight hours and to have fewer hours that we need to supplement with artificial light. Personally, I love it.

Same here. I hate having to rush home in the evenings with only an hour to get things done. Easy to get cabin fever during the winter time.

I keep forgetting.....do I get to sleep later or get up earlier after daylight savings time in the spring?

I second the idea of splitting it by 30 minutes and quit messing with it!

Oh, heck!! That means it'll still be light when the kids are trick-or-treating on Halloween! It just won't be the same...

I'll happily lose that hour of sleep and then in the fall they can spring ahead another hour. The sun should always rise at 6:30 and should always set when I am done with my chores.

If I could just divorce myself from dealing with anyone else who runs by the clock, I would just get up when its light and sleep when its dark. The Heck with what time it is. Alas other folks want to use a clock though for appointments, business openings and closings etc. BAHHHHH.

ok unless your running the accounting for a multi national from your house the time change is NO BIG DEAL

when you sit down at your pc the morning that we spring forward right click on the time and move it forward one hour then when the old daylight savings time date comes around you simply say no when your pc asks if you want to change or if it does happen to jump forward move it back

obviosly if you are doing evtreemly time sensitive data handling this may not be adiquate but if you are doing that you will have already figured out what to do

but for the rest of you who are checking some email or bloging it's not the end of the world

on second thought yes it is the end of the world and send me the deed to your land for safe keeping

hmmm, why can't I just ignore the time on my computer &look at the big clock on the wall for two weeks?

Personally, I wish we would stay on DST all year round. I can't drive after dark & the hour extra at night would really help in the winter.
