Fencing per foot price

We are looking at a place where we will need to have over 5,000 feet of perimeter fencing installed. So we plan to hire it out. We want to use 6" square American wire with locust posts. How much per foot can we expect?

I don't have a per foot cost to give you since I do all my own fencing and it will be very different hired out. What I can tell you is get the best you can afford. We went with high tensile smooth wire electric for our perimeter. I did four wires. I may add another two wires if we get goats. Right now it is for sheep and pigs. If I was just doing the pigs I would only do two wires. Ours is along stone walls and uses trees at the corners for anchor posts - worked great with eye bolts. Daisy strainers are wonderful for tightening.

Cheers

We have seven strands of high tensile, with 2 strands being electrified. Our bull went right thru it when the neighbors in- heat cows came near the fence. This fence we already have is on a different farm. Our animals have never gotten thru the American wire fencing that we have though. That's why we want American wire and not high tensile.

Yep - a fence is only as effective as its ability to overcome the motivation of the animal being fenced in or out... Did your neighbor thank you for the free breeding?

I fenced 33 acres with Hi Tensile Cost about 15 cents a foot for 5 strands. For Safty please put springs in each line We electrified all 5 strands.. My neighbor has beef cattle and Boer goats and he has never had any one out of his HI tensile fence.

We are not setting up a debate between Hi-tensile and American wire. We have told our reasons for wanting American wire and all we are looking for is how much can we expect per foot for American wire fencing installed. This is in West Virginia and we are too busy doing other things so we need a fencing co. install it for us.

Material costs will run from $1.10 per foot to as much as $1.60. Labor will be what the traffic will tolerate. Verify the wire is to be 12.5 gauge and class 3 galvanized. I doubt that you will get by at less than $2.75 per lineal foot. A lot depends on the terrain and how difficult the posts are to set.
