Chinking for log house

I have an old (1890) log house. It has been covered with modern materials in side and out. I have ripped one wall down, and found the chinking is gone. I want to expose some of the log. It needs to be flexable. I don't want to replace it every year.

There's a nice chinking recipe contained in this book, along with a lot of helpful information...

Permachink

Excellent product, I used it on my hunting cabin...remains flexible and has various tinted colors...not cheap.

We live in a log home and chinked our walls by pushing strips of insulation into the cracks with a putty knife and then filled with silicone caulk. You will get a better price buying caulk by the case..which of course you would do anyway. I think we used over 300 tubes.

We chinked with fiberglass cut into strips. Just push in with putty knife. We then covered with 2" wood strips. After oiling it looks great and blends with the wall. We went extravagant in the house and bought hardwood strips at the co-op but cut our own out of lumber for the outside.
