1999 Photo of Strawbale House wall and Us.

This is what a strawbale wall built using the method called Modified Post and Beam looks like.

How close are you to plastering the outside? Comparably speaking, has this been more or less expensive than traditional style building? Is it wired inside yet? More pix please!

You all need to read the posting. The strawbale walls were put in place in approx 1999. We have been living in the house since sometime in early 2000. Thats 7 years ago and we love it.

Notwithstanding I will post many of the pictures of both our house and another we helped build over in Alpine, TX. They are very instructive on the easiest and best (in my humble opinion) way to successfully build with bales.

I still would love to see some pics of the thing going up, tho... Any commentary about what you learned along the way in the process would also be helpful. You know... what worked, what didn't?

Hi Yucca Flats....It would be fun and a good experience to be able to help build a Straw Bale House. Is there any kind of assoc. of people either in the process of building or planning on building a solar, strawbale, etc house. I was thinking of someway of trading work for work on my house. I will have some equipment in the Kingman area this fall that I am willing to use for some help on mine. I will have a backhoe, airless sprayer, and spray/blow in insulation equipment. I also have a Spray King unit, that sprays on a stucco material. Thanks for the info and pictures..jerry
