Wood cookstove Install "?'s"

I would LOVE a wood cookstove in my home. I need to make this easy for my DH to want one too. SO...

Can one install a wook cookstove, like a stanley, using an existing fireplace chimney?

We have a fireplace, but as lovely as it is very inefficient. Would it be difficult to "retrofit" the chimney?

Thanks in advance for all your great answers.

Crystal

best to call in a pro

as even though some of us might have a pretty good idea. we can not actually see your exact building condition.
Call in a local Chimney sweep.
