Interesting food article by Polland

Interesting food article by Polland:

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/28/ma...gewanted=print

Basically, all the diet fads got it wrong. Eat traditional ethnically. Avoid processed. Cook. Garden. Variety. Like we do. Long article. I could have used fewer words.

Cheers,

thanks. interesting article. i'd come to many of the same conclusions, but without his depth of historical understanding of how we got to where we are.

now i just need to find a place where i can have a garden. but at least i have a good farmer's market nearby.

This just makes sense -

They have added 'nutrition', while taking out all the good things.

While it is possible we eat too much meat, I think the fact that as things are added to our other foodstuffs, it is also being added to our meat through hormones, etc.

There is a little voice in the back of my mind that says this is the 'secret' the government - read that big business - doesn't want people to think about. Think what changes would have to be made to the food industry if everyone finally decided they were no longer going to eat the junk that is disguised as food.

I think this may be the very reason that obese people are becoming the latest bad guys in society. If they can mount a preemptive strike at the obese and make them just lazy, ignorant people, no one will get too very serious about looking into what is causing it. After all, if a person is fat - it's all their own fault. It has nothing to do what the junk in their food.
