New here

Hi,

My name is Audra, I am a married mother of two. We live on a tiny little homestead(hoping to move to a place with more land in a few months) with our expectant Nubian dairy goat, flock of chickens,rabbits,2 miniature horses, dogs, cats, and birds.

We grow a large garden every year that we can or freeze(what doesn't get eaten straight out of the garden),we homeschool our kids and we have my parents living with us,so the kids get to grow up with four adults to love them, pay attention to them, explain things, and catch them when they are doing things they shouldnt.

I hope to learn alot and make friends here

Welcome Audra! I'd love to hear more about your "tiny little homestead". How "tiny" is it? How did you get started homesteading? I've read so many post from people who homestead or want to homestead with small pieces of land. It would be so interesting to read how you do it.

Glad to have you here!

Penny

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome!

Basic Living - Our tiny homestead is 1/3 of an acre. But we have been offered 2 1/2 acres with a house and an apartment, goat shed, chicken coop, and fencing. The only habg up is that it is 1300 miles away from where we are now.

We have been living this life for 10 years. It started in th ecity with the simple addition of a garden and then when we moved to where we are now,it grew into a much larger garden, canning, the dairy goat, and the chickens. We also have rabbits but they are just pets. We want to get satins to raise for meat and fur.

Space management is a big issue. And thank heavens for a good compost pile.

Easy day - I have already been through the goat thread and asked questions. Miss Daisy is our first(and therefor very spoiled)goat. I love the goat forum!

Shawnee - thank you. I am glad to find people I already know on here. Makes settling in easier.

Welcome Welcome Audra!!! My place is small too - 3/4 acre but I have had goats, pigs, ducks, still have a flock of chickens, turkeys, guineas, berries, apple tree and room for container gardening. You can do quite alot on a small place. Glad to have you here!!!
