Anyone use an International 584 tractor?

I was looking at a used one at a JD dealer today. It's a trade in.
The tractor is 52hp, made in 1978-84, has 5000 hours on it.

I know it depends on it's care over the last 25+ years, but I'm curious if anyone can say whether it's a good type of tractor overall, known to be long lasting etc.
And, any suggestions as to what they are worth?

I was looking for 35-40hp for the jobs I'll need it for. It will certainly be on easy duty here.
Only thing that bugs me is it's 2WD. People have suggested getting 2WD but I think 4WD would be best getting out of sticky situations.

Thanks for any help here!

Probably one of the best IH's ever and they made some terrific tractors. I wouldn't hesitiate for a second if it's running clean and will spin a dyno to at least 55hp. I looked for a 784 before I bought my 6710 Ford but nobody will part with one. I've had mfwd tractors, I've also sold them off. If you "need" it you shouldn't be there with a tractor. The only exception is mucky barnyards or your entire property is on low lands and mostly wet. Keep in mind you're still getting stuck you're just getting stuck further in, where you'll break more getting out. JMO though.

I will second what Ross stated. Those are excellent tractors. I have 2 similar ones. I have had newer tractors and larger tractors, smaller ones too, but the 52 HP IH is the best of the lot. The engines are quiet, they start good, the transmissions are synchronized, the differential locks will make up for lack of 4 wheel drive. These are just great tractors. I would like to have a new one. In decent condition the tractor is worth $6500+-

A total No Brainer, I use my 1978 I H 584 2wd every single day and manage to keep up with the newer tractors at most everyday tasks
