Enny u NE Okies go to the Amish sale today at Inola/Choutou?

My boy took me. It was huge, around 5 acres looked like. Maybe a 1000 people. We got there by 830 and it looked like 200 cars was already there. Standard round bales of good grass hay, $34.50. Didnt ask what the GREEN square bales brought. Bought 8 full grown rabbits, in a tall cage with 2 compartments, a low wheel push plow without the handles, a horse slip without the handles, a long handle schovel and a short handle schovel both with origional paint on the handles, both with a straight blade, and a homemade box trap for $31.50. DIL bought u Angoria rabbits, a buck black and a doe white, but I dont know what she paid. Saw 7 4 month or so turkeys go for $14.00. Owner wasnt happy bout that. Had some beautiful chickens AND roosters, chukas, quail, pigions, ducks, geese, rabbits, guns, I saw frontier style pistols going for around $100. Wanted to see the long guns sell, but they were selling like 1/2 boxes individual of shells, whatever somebody had to get rid of I guess. I said they should have sold the guns first, that would made it more important to buy the shells later, thereby raising the price maybe. Everything I saw went, I thought cheap, but for one thing. They had a dang nice old time gas stove I wanted, bur somebody else wanted it too. He got it at $40, and now im dang glad. It was HEAVY, and here by myself I dont know how I would have got it put anywhere by myself. The show is once a month, but u gotta go EARLY. They had trucks, and tractors, imp, but me being there from 8 30 to 3 30 was enough for me and I didnt see them sell. GOOD food too.

I'm glad you posted this farmboybill. I live about 35-40 miles east of choteau and I can't never remember just what weekend they have it. I'll have to write it down on the calendar so I'll remember.

Doggone it! You Okies are very fortunate to be able to attend that sort of sale. I don't reckon there's anything like that around here - it would almost be worth it to drive there.

Nah... it's seven hours one way... sigh. I have a sister that lives near Tulsa, hmmm.. nah... LOL!

Love that sale!! I really miss it now, being in AR. Went every time I could get someone to watch mom for me. Always bargains everywhere. We lived on NS 427 about a mile east and 4 miles north. I grew up around there, graduated from Chouteau High and it's better than class reunions seeing people I grew up with at that auction.

Oh, the guy who owns it is E.J. Chupp. There's probably a listing in the Inola phone book.
