How much meat do you eat?

Don't get me wrong, I like meat but the older I get the less it likes me. I find that eating less meat makes me feel much better. Actually I usually only eat meat on the weekends and try to stick to eggs, fruits, vegetables, dairy and fish during the week.

I wonder if it is an age thing? All my life I ate red meat at least once a day and now sometimes I can go all week and am very satisfied with chicken, fish, dairy, fruits and veggies. I never really thought much about it until I saw this thread. I haven't deliberately done it, just been eating what sounds good to me.

For me a meal is not a meal without meat. Even if I eat something like oatmeal for breakfast, I follow it a couple hours later with a bacon sandwich or other meat. I usually have 3 or 4 servings of meat a day. I do eat various types, such as chicken, pork, beef, duck, rabbit, etc.

I don't eat meat everyday, but most days I have a serving of meat. It's all homegrown or hunted, and not usually bigger than my fist.

I eat meat 3 times a day and my hunger is never satisfied unless meat is in the meal. As I have gotten older, I don't eat nearly as much of anything as I used too, but I still want some meat.

I can't eat a lot of meat -- my body doesn't process it like it should, and it *REALLY* doesn't like me However, every once in a while, I put up with the pain in order to enjoy a good steak

I would imagine that I eat about 4-8 oz of meat a week, in all forms (red, white and other)

i've lost my taste for a lot of meat too. i do feel better, less "clogged" if that makes any sense. it feels like it moves thru the gut a lot better if i eat less. anymore, if i eat a steak, it feels like it lays there for 3 days before it's digested. :1pig:

if i follow my appetites and just eat what i feel like eating, i find myself craving lentils and rice with veggeis. someone posted a lentil casserole recipe on here a few months ago, and i eat it at least once a month now. (it's really yummy!) it makes 4 servings, so that's plenty for me. when that's gone, i might make a pot of split pea soup, with the ham bone left from xmas, with chunks of potato and carrot in it. i've always loved a variety of beans, so i eat a lot of those too.

as far as your health goes, you really can't beat a meatless diet. i don't think our bodies were created to eat the massive amounts currently in the average american diet.

My meat consumption is leaning toward mostly venison. I prefer it to beef or pork.

The older I get the more meat I eat. My meals are about 80% meat, some days I only eat meat, fruit, and dairy products. I try to stay away from vegetables and grain.

I meat a lot more meat than I used to. Probably because we produce it ourselves so there is plenty of it. For years we had a very Chinese approach to meat, using it more as a seasoning than a main ingredient. Oh the pitfalls of prosperity.

I eat very little meat. My husband and most of our children are vegetarian, so it isn't worth it to cook two meals at a time. Mostly I don't miss it.

I eat meat at every meal. I don't eat a whole lot of it but its at every meal. For me I couldn't not eat meat or protein every meal if I don't the carbs make me feel awful.

Meat in every meal.

Just be sure to note that meat is "brain" food. Without the high quality protein found only in meat your brain would not be as developed. It is easy to see this in the animal kingdom. The "smart" ones eat meat. So don't be a cow........Moo.

Used to have to have meat every meal as well. Now, most of the " meat" I eat is from the ocean. Fish, clams, oysters, crab, etc., that I catch or gather, myself. Still, a great T-Bone, every now & then, sure tastes great!

Old days meat was not as easy to get or store.
Sunday was a “red meat dinner” if you could do it.
Other days just what you had for the stew.

Vegetarian is ok but just 50 years ago we walked more, chopped wood, worked hard for everything. We needed the fats /oils calories.
Now we drive, have assorted good heaters in every house, live is good.

Also kids need more protein and meat is a easy protein.
Protein from animal sources, such as meat and milk, is called complete, because it contains all nine of the essential amino acids. Most vegetable protein is considered incomplete because it lacks one or more of the essential amino acids.

Vegetarian is heath but if “STHF” keep it in mind the we have the cutting teeth for something.
