What to do with deer hide?

I was at an auction a few weeks back, and bought a tanned deer hide, without hair for $1.

It does have a slight mildew smell, as if it were in a damp basement. How can I rid the hide of this smell?

I am thinking about making something out of the hide. Any suggestions???

I would love to have a pair of moccasins, but the hide wouldn't be strong enough for anything but wearing them inside the house, right?

I would also consider decorating the item with glass beads like the Native Americans did....any idea where I can find those beads?

Thanks in advance!!!!

Last time we discussed tanning deer hides on this forum, people claimed they were getting a hundred bucks a pop for tanned deer hides. Sounds like you got a killer deal!

Actually, I was looking for a piece last nite for a project, so if you can't think of anything to do with it, I'll give you $2.00 for it.?
