woodstove storage

We have an extra woodstove from our old house. It is better than the one we are using, but will not fit here for various reasons. I would like to sell it but DH thinks we will use it some day. So it needs to not be sitting in the living room taking up space. i am afraid if we put it out in the shed it will get rusty. Is there something we can coat it with for storage? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

They have a liquid to paint stoves called Stove Black. It goes on like water, but will prevent stoves from rusting, and won't stink you out of the house with toxic fumes when the stove is fired up. Try finding it at hardware and paint stores.

I would coat it with mineral oil...keep an eye on it, whatever you do.

Thank you for the suggestions. I'm not sure which we will do yet.
