Western WA - damage report
We have no power here - I'm running a generator for the well pump and have enough capacity to also run the computer. (gotta have priorities, you know!)
The pasture shelter is a crumpled mess after being picked up by a wind gust last night. Thank goodness the llamas weren't sleeping in it! The llamas are fine.
We lost one door off of the critter barn. It's one of the doors leading to the pen, not the outside world, so we didn't have any escapes. The goats, sheep, and barn chicken (and the barn chicks) are fine.
The barbeque is a crumpled, sad looking version of it's former self.
We lost 1/2 of the big-leaf maple, but it didn't hit any of the buildings.
All told, we came through it pretty much un-scathed.

Trees down here-quite a few, large and small. Power down for 12 1/2 hours. Pond is swollen and creeks are running hard and high. Picked up lots of debris from lane and cut back a small fir that toppled across part of lane. Guess I will have a "live" tree this year after all. Have to head into town later-might be interesting to see what went on. I bet Washaway Beach is a mess again. Good luck-Dan

Here in Central Oregon we have snow, many downed trees, blocked hwys. and wide spread power outages. My power was only out for 3 hrs. this morning but many have had power out since yesterday afternoon. I have a nice warm wood stove so am snug as a bug also!

Just got power back, too. Our trees are old and solidly rooted so no damage. I was glad the chicken coop was heavy or it would have been dumped over. Traffic was awful.

Neightbors keep their remodling junk by our fence and the old shower enclosure flew up and wiped out a section of our fence, lost power no biggie we played games and played with lazer pens. So we really came of the storm pretty good.
We drove around today and saw a lot of damage amazing what wind can do.
Then early afternoon we got snow it rarely snows here. Weird.

Part of our fence came down in the last good windstorm. We reinforced it so no problems this time. The worst was a section of downspout that came down.
We didn't get hit badly with wind so not too many problems here. Lights flickering. We are on a main line coming into town so power outages are very rare in my neighborhood.

One of my sisters in Tacoma says she lost all the shingles off her garage roof and many of her neighbors had similar damage. The little white picket border fence was also down.
Have not heard from the other two sisters in Black Diamond and Ashford... They are probably fine in Black Diamond but Ashford has been getting hit with snow and flooding lately. *sigh*

Quite a bit of damage all around us but we got very little wind. Lots of rain, though!!! Power flickered a bit.
I think this is enough now for this winter. Nice, steady drizzle until May and I'll be happy. Still have to clean up fallen branches and two toppled trees from the big snow.
I think this summer I'll get a generator to run the wellpump, since water is the only thing we get desperate about with a prolonged power failure.

When I left work in Morton on Thursday aftenoon and was heading east on Hwy 12, the wind was really blowing! It was like a wind tunnel through there and was really blowing my car all over the highway!
When I got home, it wasn't so bad. I think I'm somewhat protected by the hills around me, although it did pick up later in the evening. We lost power around 11:00 p.m.; it came back on right a 5:30 a.m. That worked out nnicely, because it was off during the time we were all asleep anyway. We stayed plenty warm because we heat with wood.
No damage outside. I have some trees just above the house on the hillside that I worry about. I really need to check those out because where the house sits is on a level spot that was cut out of the hillside and those trees are kind of on the edge of where it was cut out.
I drove two of the kids into town to visit friends. One of the kids' friends still had no power. His power had been out since the afternoon before (he lives right on Hwy 12, which seemed to get hit pretty bad). While driving around, saw lots of debris and, between Hwy 12 and Hwy 508 some down power lines.
When I went back into town to pick up one of the boys, it was almost dark and it was easy to see who was still without power. Quite a few; I really lucked out this time!
It sounds like the coast really got hit hard!
(Oh, and I, too, had a dusting of snow yesterday. It didn't last, though, which is good since I lost my only set of keys to my 4-wheel drive!)

Power was out a little over 24 hours, icebox house. Power's back on, house is warm, woodstove/generator being seriously considered.
Many trees down on Highway 95 past Athol, some down in CdA have been snapped in half. Power crews worked all night in the freezing wind (it was 18 on the porch an hour ago) to get stuff up and running.
a skiff of snow overnight, nothing to get excited about. More perturbing is the solid ice under the snow. Must.get.studs.for.my.car.

We have no damage, but it's been an interesting couple of days. Wednesday it rained and sleeted most of the day. Thursday 6 inches of snow, power was out Friday for about 10 hours. No woodstove here either, was down to 55 in the house.
Last night another 5-6 inches of snow and it's 16 this morning. I guess power was out for nearly the entire Kittitas County and we're back on because they routed it through the new windfarm in Eburg. Schools and most businesses had been shut down because of no power. Our town is a major fuel stop on the East-West route but nobody was pumping fuel yesterday.
We have ice way down beneath the snow too, and the forecast is for the teens again the next couple of nights. Think it's time to put the winter tires on the subaru.

We didn't lose power which was very lucky since the people on the other side of the lake did. We lost a few trees in the woods but no damage to any buildings. It did blow all the leaves off the trees in the garden and into the woods Saved me some work.

Coastal Oregon reporting.
Power came on at 3am this morning. My DH replaced our generator that was stolen this last summer. Hopefully we won't need to use it this season. Alder tree fell over across the river but doesn't look like its causing any back-up. We will leave it until
the river goes down a bit.
Animals fine and now finally accounted for. Dogs ran off during the crazy wind and gotta call from a family 3 miles away that they had them. Picked -em up. Remind me to send a Christmas basket to them.
Hope everyone else fared as well. My DH is going to my parents to set up their generator for them. They are looking at a few days before they get power.

We only lost power for a couple of hours - went out just as I was finishing dinner, so we had a nice hot meal and dined by candle light. Lost the top half a big fir tree, but thankfully it didn't end up in the road or across our driveway. Some in our area still didn't have power as of last evening - supposedly most of those without will get it back today.

Eastern WA was a lot more boring, our power flickered and didn't go off. We suffered no real damage either, but we see a lot more wind normally and it didn't hit us as hard.

The wind howled on the Olympic Peninsula, but no damage on Deberosa except one small fir tree uprooted - it fell parallel to the fence!
Metal shed for dog house that was staked down did fine, but I moved the dogs to the barn to be safe. The Costco carport for the turkeys and ducks also is staked and of the six big stakes one came out of the ground but the rest held. Even the huge tarp roof on part of the barn was fine, but I think it's simply because the farm is oriented against the wind. Power was out from 7 pm Thursday to 6 PM Friday, but the generator ran the well, freezer, fridge, lights and TV. ;-) The woodstove kept us warm as usual.
It was a good practice session, learned we need to make it easier to hook up the well to the generator - took Kurt's electrical expertise to accomplish that. Otherwise we were very lucky.

No, just storms on the net itself. ;-) Plus have a little extra time in winter, things are really busy around here any more!
