May Be Looking To Move To Another State... Best Place???

My Dh And I Might Need To Look Out Of Michigan For Work... Nothing Here. I Have Heard Alot About Wyoming. Is It True? Are There Lots Of Jobs??? How Is The Homesteading Out West? Good Decent Priced Places? I Am Open To Any And All Suggestions As To Where We Should Look To Move... Is It Just Michigan With The Poor Job Market? We Have 2 Very Active Children, Involved In Every Sport And Extra Curricular Activity There Is.. We Have Goats, Chickens, Rabbits, A Horse, Dogs And Cats.. All Of Which Would Have To Come Along!!!
Thanks In Advance...
Renee

I really can't help you out very much as I live in Michigan too. Are we still the 2nd highest unemployment rate? Anyway, the only point I had was to comment on was Wyoming jobs. I know that that the state of Wyoming has been having job fairs throughout Michigan within the last few months, our local news (Grand Rapids) did a feature on it. Apparently there are alot of jobs available there.

This feature was from May but I believe they just had another one near Detroit last month. This may help you track down further information, Good Luck!!

Anywhere within 2 hours of Jackson hole is way overpriced. The rest of wyoming is flat, cold or hot, and windy. Really windy.

Good land prices north and south of spokane washington, from colfax up to kettle falls, and west to okanagon valley, but as for jobs, I don't know, probably no more than anywhere else. Craigslist is a good place to check land prices AND jobs in an area you're interested in.

It might help if you list the craft or trade of your employment...What you are looking for or willing to do...

The job market maybe hot in Wyoming but it very much a boom and bust resource based economy. Oil and Gas.

You may want to look at some of the info on my thread, here:My Moving Thread

I even have a poll. My criteria is prolly slightly different than yours, but maybe it might help a little.

Best of luck.

Yes, there is work in WY and in NW Colorado and NE Utah, but there is little or no available housing at the moment, especially anything with land and water, which is extremely important. I have a good friend who is a realtor in NW CO and she keeps me up to date on what is going on up there. If you want to talk to her PM me and I'll give you her phone number and email addy.

Well, I suppose it depends on the kinds of jobs you are looking for. If you are thinking high paying union mining or auto manufacturing jobs, forget it, but there are decent jobs in MN. Our unemployment rate is 3.9, and the experts consider 4% full employment. There is a pretty good mix here, manufacturing, forestry, agriculture, retail, etc. Areas within driving distance to the Twin Cities are getting expensive real estate wise. There is still decent land further out.
