Mice & PEX?

Is there any problem with mice, squirrels, chipmunks, rats and other critters chewing holes in PEX water pipes?

We are building a tiny cottage and I would like to try PEX. I've used iron, PVC and copper in the past but not worked with PEX yet. Any thoughts and tips are appreciated. I'm working my way through the old messages about PEX right now...

we had grey pex in 1987 doublewide that a couple of rats devastated. I fought a week, fix 8 places where they chewed thru the stuff before Dcon got them.

I need to add, had to cut holes in drywall to get to leaks. It was a night mare. Rats loved the stuff.

Th gray stuff is not pex.

We have pex sitting in the barn, with lots of mice around. Nothing touched.

It would take alot of chewing to get through pex.

If those critters are near pex with water in it, they'll chew to get it.

Have used pex at the cabin for 3 years now , no problems with the pex, other stuff, but not the pex.
Great stuff once you get the tool, and takes a hit on freezing where copper won't.
