Wow!

This morning - sunny and at 7:15 am, the temperature outside is 15 degrees! Um, this is CHILLY for North Central Texas! The chickens' water is frozen, even though it was inside their coop. The ground is frozen on top - all foot and pawprints are hard and I could not "overwrite" them with my boots.

I've got the fire going in the woodstove, and it's nice and cozy inside. The weather is supposed to warm up to the low 50's by noon (of course, currently we are 14 degrees cooler than what is showing on the "local" weather program. Guess we'll be carrying a some water out to the livestock this morning, but at least it won't be a long term project!

Actually, I'm rather enjoying the change in the weather. Day before yesterday the high was 82 and the low was 60. That blue norther blew in with a vengeance with rain, then sleet, then snow flurries. What a difference a day makes! The high yesterday never made 30. We are hoping it will thin down the flies

It's 23 here in North East WI. With the windchill its probably about 0, but no snow for us We hardly get any snow anymore. Just freezing cold. To the north and south of us they get all the snow.
All the waters in the barn are froze up and the outside faucet had to haul water up from the basement for everybody and gave the chickens warm water with their food.

It's 29º here in Indiana with wind gusts of 35 mph. Not sure what the wind chill is but it sure feels like it's in the teens. The weather guesser is predicting:

Today: Cloudy with snow showers. Brisk winds will reduce visibility in some of the snow showers. High 39F. Winds WSW at 25 to 35 mph. Chance of snow 50%. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.
Tonight: Cloudy early with some clearing expected late. Low 23F. Winds W at 15 to 25 mph.

brrrr

It is still 58 degrees here in New York State but will begin to drop soon. There are thunderstorms to the west of us and the wind is picking up. I am very worried about more flooding here. Several weeks ago our property was flooded for the second time this year. Now it seems everytime we get more than 2 inches of rain our poperty gets flooded again. The water table is very high so a little rain does more damage than normal. I have to leave for work in an hour and I have no idea what kind of weather I may run into. IWork is 37 miles to the west of my home over a major mountain. I will give myself a little more time to get there safe.

Our ice is gone, and we actually have sunshine and high 40's forecast for the next week, dropping into the 20's at night. After an absolutely wild November (flooding, snowing, freezing rain, record rainfall for the month, etc), I'm enjoying the break! Would like some snow for Christmas, but I want a while to get my pasture harrowed and seeded this month first!
