Snow and house pics

A few weeks ago we had flooding here in WA. Now it is snow. I just love fresh snow. Thought I might share a few pics.

The log house. Hope to be finished and moved in by summer 2007.

Thumbs up snow and house pics

How absolutely beautiful!! Even though your stove isn't connected yet, it isn't hard to imagine a nice warm fire in it! Enjoy! Toni

Oh dad gum! That's incredible... so like my dream...

I'm in the south cause family is here, but I sure rmember the UP of Michigan and the 7 years in Denver area for real snow and winter. Here we get mostly grey and in your bones damp.

Keep the photos coming please.

I love the cabin and the shot of the fir trees is magnificent.!

Angie

Great shots and I like the way you incorporated the mantle. Your set up is almost exactly like mine ("L" shaped and in a corner), but your mantle addition is a big plus. Good luck on finishing and getting into the house next Summer.

Very beautiful! How long have you been working on it? Where are you staying while you are building? Thanks for sharing the beautiful pics. Do you get a lot of snow where you are in Washington?

Thanks for the nice comments!

Answers to some of your questions:

The little log cabin is 200 sq feet. That size was picked since in this area you don't need a permit if it is 200 sq ft or less. It was built with logs pulled out of the woods that were already down. No live trees were cut. So it kind of served two purposes - cleaned out the woods and gave me an opportunity to try building my own log cabin. Around $1000 total cost and that was for dimensional lumber for floor and roof and then the metal roof. Right now I just use it for storage but as soon as the main house is done, I'll turn the little one into an off-grid quest house. My little experiment in off-grid living and an opportunity for others to experience it.

The main house started Dec 1st of 2005. Exterior is mostly finished and working on the inside now. It is 1900 sq ft, 1200 down and 700 in the loft. While building, I have an RV trailer that I stay in.

Again, thanks for your comments.

Robert

Three more pics which are taken from the front deck of the house. The house points directly at the mountain which is called Whitehorse Mountain. If you look close, you might be able to see why it is called that.
