Dumbest Trespassers in all the Land...

Are they all this stupid or do we have all the extra dumb ones?

Last year I wrote you all about the bonehead who walked out of his front door, past our posted sign and sat his hunting butt in dh's spot. He then got up and walked back home. All this in FRESH SNOW.

This year it was a group of out-of-state hunters. Not only did they trespass all over our community, they did it while talking openly about it on the radio! (They used Channel 12, BTW and they're from Mass and NH and they call themselves Bubba, Rambo and Beagle. Just thought I'd mention that in case they read our friendly neighborhood forum. You're famous now, guys!)

After they were told to get lost, they openly refused to leave, on the air (and with sheriff listening!) They announced which old man's a-- they were going kick if they caught him alone, whose barn they were going to burn down, etc.

Usually trespassers get us really steamed but these guys were so dumb it was funny...

A good cure for both trespassers and poachers=stray bullets;severe vehicle damage; following them to their home and later on delivering several tons of wet chicken manure to their driveway.

Well the reality is that it is a lack of respect AND it gives you a great big pit in your gut because of the uneasiness with the hornets nest. We have always been very vocal against jerks but it still leaves me worried to the point that I rarely sleep until I think things are settled down. I always hated this stuff. My folks were vocal against poachers on our property and our spring ended up with a dead dog in it. (decomposing dead dog which was amazingly NOT ours - poor thing) Never could prove who did it. The message was clear though. Didn't stop my parents though. They were madder than ever. I was too though I was only a teen back then. I was afraid they would burn us out. I was afraid they would kill our animals. That's it is the Fear Factor.

I'm sorry you are having issues with these very dumb trespassers.

Video cameras have become very small these last few years and many have IR capabilities that enable them to work even in the dark. Some have become so small you could be looking right at them and not recognize them for what they are.

Put up a few "This area under video surveillance" signs around your outbuildings and such. Even if you don't actually have such cameras it will introduce the element of uncertainty into their minds about whether they are being recorded on film.

Nope ~ I don't know them! Sure sounds like they were being rude in someone elses community though.

I was on a very large construction job a few years back when two poachers had the luck of using the wrong radio channel to plan the pick-up of a beautiful eight point whitetail they shot early in the morning. The entire excavating crew sat in the job trailer, and listened as these two goobers planned the great escape. Fortunately, a game warden was close enough to get there and offer the boys a bit of advice about radio silence as he arrested them. Nice

Please. Just for the record, not all rural Missourians let their shotguns do the talking. There are actually people there that ask questions first and shoot later.

I think most people know that, but there IS a different mindset I believe... sort of a backwoods vengence sorta flavor to it.

That said, it wouldn't keep me from living there... I mean, I can shoot with the best of them.
