Cabin link

Browsing around for pictures and stories of people building cabins, I can across this one in Alaska. I thought it was very nice with only 2.5 builders. Beautiful place.

I just spent an hour looking at the pictures and reading about their adventures. They did a great job of building the cabin.

It must be nice to live in a place where someone isn't telling you what kind of house, what kind of septic system, what kind of EVERYTHING you have to have. Imagine, an OUTHOUSE how avantgarde, how RADICAL!!!!! However will the planet survive because these people have dared to put in an outhouse instead of an "approved" septic system. Oh horrors, HORRORS I say.

Sarcasm aside, the location wouldn't be my cup of tea. Snow, mountains, etc., doesn't appeal to me, but they look happy and apparently aren't afraid of a little hard work. More power to them. Three cheers. I hope they can hang in there and make a good life for themselves.

Alaska is beautiful. What a fantastic view they enjoy.

I can't help but think the place should have been built at least TWICE its size of 14' x 18'.

GREAT link! I've been sitting here looking at pics for awhile. You're right, they're not afraid of hard work, and they did a fantastic job. And, oh, the view...

<sigh> We are seriously thinking about moving to Alaska in 18 months. That site did not help with my attempts at playing "devils advocate"! LOL

Yeah, but would you trade blueberries for sunshine?

I need at least 6 hours of real light a day. Moving to Alaska would not help my disposition one little bit.

But living in a log cabin on my own land would. Just not in Alaska.

Logbuilder, what a beautiful house that is going to be. I love the rock for the fireplace/woodstove. Is that river rock? And what a beautiful view....sigh....

LOL...yes, I would! I have Rosacea and Ocular Rosacea (sunshine KILLS my eyes). Basically, I am allergic to sunshine and avoid it as much as possible. In the summer I am limited to going outdoors only at dusk, which limits my gardening time!

I LOVE autumn with it's rainy overcast days!

oh man! I've been drooling at this site for an hour now. 15yo dd walked in and saw it and said "NO Mom NO!" I don't know if I'm young enough to work that hard anymore though. I might be ok for a day or two then my hips would remind me that I've had 6 kids...........but I can dream.
