Has anyone been to the Kickapoo Country Fair?

Would it be worth scheduling in on a vacation? I've always wanted to go to Wisconsin.
here's a link to 2006 schedule:

The land we're selling is over in Ferryville, west of LaFarge. We've never been to the fair, but that is some of the most beautiful unglaciated land you will ever want to see in your life. Apple trees grow from sticks, I think, it is so fertile!

If you make the trip, drive west to see the Mississippi in all its glory. Drive along Route 35, look up to see the eagles (you can still see them in the summer sometimes). The bluffs are majestic, the land is powerfully pretty.

Ditto! Beautiful area...and VERY fertile. I'm still thinking of going back

I organized the bike tour for this year's Kickapoo Country Fair, so, yes, I've been to it. Yes, it's worth being part of your vacation. You can't go wrong visiting here anytime of year so the Fair would just be icing on the cake (lefse may be more common around here though). It's a great, fun, get-together with plenty of educational opportunities as well. Bring your bike and do the tour to get real close to the countryside.

We visited here just once. The next time we came with all our belongings...

I go every year since it's maybe 10 minutes away for me :-)

At the Kickapoo Country Fair workshops I always learn something useful. This year I went to a workshop on foraged foods (http://www.prodigalgardens.info/) and sampled some roasted dandylion tea and sumac lemonade. Very tasty! I also went to a workshop on renewable energy. The Kickapoo Reserve and Visitor center is close by too so there is lots to do and see.

We didn't make it this year (2006), but did go last year (2005). It is a 2 to 3 hour drive for us, and the only reason we did not go this year was too many things going on that weekend. This year was the first year it was 2 days, and I imagine it would be even better than just one day. There were some good workshops, a tour of the headquarters building, music, and numerous vendors of all sorts. It would give you a goal for a weekend in southwestern Wisconsin, and you would get to meet the "better class" of people in the area (at least in my opinion).

Thanks all! Sounds like it is as nice as the flyer presents it. I really like the bike tour idea, too. Now to approach DH. Ok, ladies, how to make him think it is "his" idea...???

Maybe you should ask the men-folk that question. They're more likely to have some "guy" ideas that would work.

Does he like to fish? The fly-fishing is superb here. Trout streams everywhere.
