Raw milk consumer? 20K for wife swap

I got this email from Organic Pastures. Unfortunately, we're empty nesters...but hey. an easy 20K for a homesteader family willing to do this:

......
An important message

from Organic Pastures Dairy Company

worth $20,000 dollars to your family

Raw Milk consumers have now been provided the biggest opportunity ever to show the world how organic foods and whole raw unprocessed foods improve health.

Hollywood is now looking for healthy raw food eating families that will be featured in the ABC television show “Wife Swap”.

The message here is educational and nutritional. People just do not now about living foods and health….now is our chance to demonstrate your knowledge and how you keep your family happy and healthy.!

This is the letter that invites families to participate. Please respond to the contact person at ABC and share your experiences with whole unprocessed foods…especially raw milk.

To Whom It May Concern:

I'm a Casting Producer with ABC Television and we're

looking to feature fabulous families who follow the raw foods

diet - or a similar philosophy - on our upcoming show. I'd love

to talk with families who are passionate about truly living and

eating healthy. Has this diet enhanced your quality of life - or

influenced your lifestyle and parenting style in other positive

ways? Could another family learn a thing or two by experiencing

your lifestyle?

We want to hear from you!

We're currently casting for ABC's hit family show,

Wife Swap! Please don't be confused by the title - Wife Swap is

a family show on ABC primetime. The premise is simple: two moms

from two very different families get the opportunity to swap lives

(but not bedrooms - everyone has their own!) for a week to

experience what it's like to live a different lifestyle - and to see

what they can teach each other about their own! The goal is for

both families to take away something positive from the experience

while also teaching each other why their beliefs and

philosophies are so important and beneficial.

Again, I think the raw

foods movement is a fascinating philosophy that many families may

never have heard of - and could possibly benefit from! I found your

information online and thought you would be a great resource - I would

greatly appreciate you forwarding my information on to any

families who might be interested in sharing their lives with us

for a week!

<>All featured families will receive a $20,000 financial honorarium
for their time - and $1000 goes to anyone who refers a family
that makes it on the show! We are looking for two parent families
with children (between the ages of 5 and 18) who are ready for
adventure! I appreciate your assistance in reaching out to these
great families and look forward to hearing from you soon!

Side question: While it likely isn't true in every case I suspect most Amish and Mennonite families live a food consumption lifestyle very similar to what they are looking for. Has there been any studies done on the overall health and longivity of the Amish and/or Mennonites vs the general U.S. population.

The Amish and Mennonites may indeed drink their milk raw, but they are not generally raw foods afficiandos. It sounds like they are looking for those who do not cook ANYTHING they eat. The Amish and Mennonites cook the dickens out of mnost everything, and use a lot of sugar. In general.

We know some Amish that do the raw foods diet. They do not cook like the traditional Amish. However, they would never go and do a TV show like this. They would get kicked out of the church for sure.

Actually, I did read of a study that compared Amish overall health to "average' Americans. While I can't remember exactly what it said, I do remember that the Amish came out WAY ahead of us and the medical experts found it was due not to their diets, which they found were extremely high in fats, etc., but to their level of physical activity. All that strenuous daily labor is actually good for the body it seems!

I've seen the Amish in my area at the store buying Tang, hot dogs, white bread and disposable diapers, LOL. That of course isn't an accurate representation of them all, but in my area they tend to be a little laid back. We are good friends with a local Amish family and even they agree on that point.

Raw food diet goes well beyond drinking raw milk!

Such things as 'cooking' chicken in lime juice ... no heat ... just lime juice.

sushi with attitude!

Just for the record, TXCloverAngel from here was on Wife Swap in Oct. I don't remember if she ever posted the "inside scoop", but it sounded like they got more than they bargained for. The $20K didn't come easy.

Wife Swap is a reality show...

I hope the US in general benefits from this kind of exposure to things that urbanites have "forgotten". I believe a simpler, more physical lifestyle is better in almost all possible ways. Hopefully it helps some people.

Anybody have any follow up to this story?

I have often thought of moving to an Amish community.

Most of the Amish we lived aroung growing up drank pop and coffee by the ton. They had no problem hopping down to the local grocery store also LOL!

Are they looking for "vegans" or someone like that?

More than likely they'd show the raw family as being a family of vegetarian/vegan weirdos who don't "get" mainstream life.

I have a friend who drinks raw goat's milk, along with kefir and such she makes from it. I'm considering going along and getting raw cow's milk from the same place.
