Speaking of Wood Heat

Can anyone give me a hint on were I can purchase a class A chimney pipe that isn't going to cost me hundreds of dollars per section. We would like to install my wood stove in the new house, but we don't have a chimney.
Thanks

I believe they sell SUPERVENT. It's what we used for our woodburner.

There is a planning guide. We used the "through the wall" kit as we had to go through two stories and an attic if we wanted to go through our 126 year old house.

You will have to buy a few brackets with it also and perhaps the top stabilizer kit depending on how high you have to take the pipe above the roof where you exit the house from.

PS, we bought ours last year and it was about 50 bucks a piece then (a little more than that...)

http://www.woodmanspartsplus.com

We don't have a lowes, we do have a Home Depot.

I found every part that I needed at woodmanspartsplus, and they shipped it to the local hardware chain for free.

The chimney cap, thimble, storm collar [I don't remember the names for all of the parts, basically everything going through the roof and everything above the roof], cost me around $48.

I have four lengths of black stove pipe 8" that I bought locally, connecting to everything from woodmanspartplus.

I also got our woodstove grates from them. I got two really heavy duty ones that can handle burning wood or coal cost us $18 each, they are around 13" by 18".

That's a fallacy. There were MAJOR problems a decade or so ago with all the manufacturer's products. They were failing within 2-5 years after installation. The inner stainless steel liner was deteriorating (yes, that is a stainless steel liner I am talking about and there was a major problem with reactivity between the metal and moisture), which was pretty well not noticeable. The interior would collapse, partially plug (or totally plug) the manufactured chimney and would build up carbon monoxide in the house and/or plug up with creosote causing major chimney fires. This was happening with both Class A and L-Vent. When these chimnies had a chimney fire, in many cases they practically self-destructed, causing structure fires.

Buy new, not used. Buy certified UL/ULC/CSA/WH products designed to do the job.

All stainless steel is not the same, and all stainless will rust and corrode eventually, the higher quality taking the longest.
