Costco has Emergency food bucket

It's about $109 for 42 days worth of food, all vegetarian.

It's freeze-dried. While I have lots of stuff, I haven't put anything up in quite a while. I was thinking of getting 1 or 2 of the buckets..what do you think? On the whole, each food item is cheaper in this busket than you could get it (even walmartski) anywhere else.

42 days for one person, or a family of four?
3 meals per day?

Assuming 3 meals per day, one person, that's 3*42=126 meals so less than $1 per meal. Freeze-dried foods have a half life, not an expiration date, so it sounds lke a good deal to me!

I saw it and its for a family of four. rather stock up things I like to eat then the contents of that bucket. That would be hoarding to me since it would definately go to waste before I ate it (unles SHTF).

Do you have a link on their website? I just did a search and only came up with the American Preparedness Emergency Backpack Kit Crew / 4 Person, 3-day. http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product...v=&browse=&s=1

It's not on the website, I looked, myself.

I think it was for a family of 4, by the way.

I have been thinking about it since it's suposed to have a really, really long shlef life...20 or 40 years, I think???

There are issues with that kit, wish I could provide a link, but cannot remember which board I saw it on. Check out the caloric content, it is woefully low. Apparently you could make that kit yourself for considerably less.
