Old soft wood floor

Our house has old fir or soft pine wood floors. They have a certain beauty of their own, but much of the finish in a couple of areas is gone. Is there a way to get them looking 'nice' without completely refinishing them?

Thanks,

I have been told that the living room and bedroom floors here at Hollyhock Cottage are red pine. They have huge old knots in them and I like them. What I have done on the floors of some of the closets that are already painted, etc. and plan to do to the rest of the wood floors is simply use a good wood floor cleaner and then put down several thin coats of paste wax and buff, buff, buff and buff some more. I think that should do the trick and will not involve sanding the floors and getting dust all over every nook and crannie in the house! You might try this in on closet floor to see if it will work, or in a corner of one room, maybe.

Good luck!

Yep, Johnson's paste wax and buff. You can buff with rags if you don't have access to a buffer.

Linseed oil. Less buffing. Put it on where the finish has worn off and where it is wearing off and it will all blend in over time.
