Question magnetic door alarm-90 decibel-am I gonna

hear this on basement door when I'm upstairs on opposite end of the house? I don't sleep very well at night when husband is gone and while I don't have specific threat; I do have someone who would harm me if they got the opportunity. Trouble is I never know what area the US they are located at any time. I do have loaded pistol right by the bed. I've left word in several places that I would pull the trigger without hesitation if needed. I have not had a direct threat from him; just know in my gut how he is and what he's capable of doing.
Should I speak with his ex-parole officer about this?
Also the basement door is the only access I worry about. Just how loud will 90 decibels be for a light sleeper?

90 Decibles is pretty loud. Why not do a test run? Does it have a return policy?

90 Decibles is pretty loud. In the work place people are be required to where hearing protection above 85 decibles. If it doesn't wake you, you need to get your hearing checked.

Try the test run. I would think you would be able to hear it.

" I have not had a direct threat from him; just know in my gut how he is and what he's capable of doing.

Might cause you more problems- If he hasn't threatened you I don't really see what they would do except maybe stir him up.

Do you have a door coming from the basement to the upstairs?
If so you could also place an alarm their-Also any windowa that are low.

Even if you don't hear it, it might deter him from coming in any further. It is loud enough to make him pee his pants if he isn't expecting it...

I would say go for it, nothing really to loose.

Sorry to hear about your crummy sleep. It is hard to have good days without great sleep. Does your basement door swing in? If it does I would have an easy security suggestion.

If it doesn't wake you that far away can you wire up a remote speaker to it that would be where you're at?

Does it have a window? If not you could prop a 2X4 under the door knob and he would make enough noise when he tried to get in?

Just a thought...

Everyone Has different ways of doing things---If my life was threaten by someone-------I am sure they could get me in ways other than breaking into my house at night while I Sleep. I am Sure getting a restraining order would not help you sleep. Scaring them off with a loud alarm---will only put off what they wanted to do for a while---Make you go Crazy woundering when he was going to strike next------"I Feel" I would put in a Silent alarm that would wake me, but not allow "Him" to know you know he has entered your home------Then I would take care of business--call 911---they haul him out in a bag----Problem over--Never have to worry about the Sweet-Old-Boy(SOB) anymore. You can get a driveway alarm for around $20 on E-bay or Harbor Freight. It can be used inside as a motion detector with the receiver on your nite stand next to your gun. The one's I bought have a small red LED on the transmitter that lights when its activated--this LED can be covered with black tape---then no one will know they have activated a alarm except for you having the receiver. The receiver does make a sound that you could tone down(by covering the speaker with something that will lower the sound) to where it will be loud enough to wake you but not so loud that everyone in the house can hear it. Good Luck!! Randy

Why not just put a lock on the basement door? ....or maybe get yourself a dog? We have a motion detector in the basement. If anyone makes it into the basement and moves around, an alarm sounds thru out the house.

Fire-man-that sounds interesting

will look into that. There is a lock on the door. I have always kept all doors locked 24/7. I am not afraid of riling him up, as a matter of fact I consider this as a challenge. He knows I am a marksman and he has thrown his indirect threats around long enough. We'll see who wins this game he's playing.
Am speaking to parole officer tomorrow. Maybe I'll get lucky and someone else will solve my problem; wouldn't be surprised considering the low-life he is.
