Rag tops and snow

I was thinking of buying a VW GTI. It has a rag top. I don't have a garage. How well do rag tops do when exposed to the weather all the time? Usually the most snow we get at one time is less than a foot, but we can get more. Will that damage the top?

Thanks

Jena

The top is designed to hold-up under exteme conditions. The soft top has some natural downside to them as they age. The outside sound increases, they leak and the material will degrade a bit. When clearing snow off you would have to be alot more careful what tool you would choose. The gloved hand is best!. The upside is big though on a warm sunny day. VW great car.

When I owned a convertable, I was advised not to keep valuables inside & NOT to lock my car. Reason: the soft top will just be slashed if anyone really wants whats inside.

There's special soap to wash it with, with preservatives in it.

Great fun car!

Mine hold up just fine for several feet of wet snow at a time.

I've had a couple convertables...LOVED them!...and the only major re-ocurring problem was when neighbors ill-behaved, snotty nosed, overweight (FAT!) little darlings decided to run across the top of the car.

Yes, people can fall through the roof if they're dumb enough to jump on it.
