We were ROBBED!

DH went to go trim some hedges and noticed our generator MISSING. That's all they took. We are grateful that that is all it was. They knew what they wanted as it was just past our private bridge on our shared by 3 neighbors road... They left the tools right by it. We will start locking our gate by the bridge now. So sad that someone would violate someone else.

Oh my gosh I am so sorry.

That is really a shame that we live in a world where you have to lock up your things.

That is horrible. I'm so sorry. I have no room for thieves.

If you have the serial number be sure to offer that info. to the police.

We were robbed last year at our hunting camp and because we could quickly produce serial no. on chainsaw....and a car description was given by someone else the guys got caught and we got most of our stuff back (a very full change jar was not recovered)

Next time a chain and motion light on the valuables.

When the power goes out at your place stand outside and listen. You may find your generator.

Apparently it's the 3rd generator this week that was stolen in our "neighborhood". Probably for drug money. They didn't even bother to take the grounding wire... oh well

I'm so sorry about that! It's this post-Katrina world, anything that can sustain a person without power is worth $$$$.

I hope whoever has been stealing gets caught.

Back in GA, we had a bad theft of riding lawnmowers a couple years back. If I recall correctly they got busted because they tried to steal a mower from some guy cutting Police grass...not exactly the sharpest crayon in the box there.

I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. I have been the victim of several thefts and break-ins, with huge losses, so I know how you feel.

I'm relatively new to this forum, and if I posted exactly how I feel about thieves stealing from honest, law-abiding people,
, I'm sure they would ban me from posting!

Most stolen items are never seen again, but you never know. A little detective work on your part, along with working close with the police, may get your property back. I recommend getting a local auction paper, and go to any nearby that may sell generators. Thieves have to turn the genny into money, and consignment auctions are a simple way to do it, with almost any type of machinery. That's what I've found here in Michigan, anyway. Try resale shops, and used machinery stores as well. I doubt they stole it to use themselves, but I could be wrong.

Good luck!

Where did you set the choke lever when you started this thing? <G>

The British used to set huge leghold traps for poachers and trespassers. I would have no problem with that if it was made legal again.

There are no lower people on earth than those who steal a man's or women's tools. That is like taking food off the owners table. I worked in construction and we had no use for theives.

A fellow I know had a new water pump stolen. The type used to pump water on construction sites. Well, a nasty bum stole the new pump. My friend went to the local flea market with the serial number and sure enough the pump was "For Sale". He walked away and called the Police who promptly arrested the nasty bum.

I hope you find out who stole it. Likely as not the same person or persons will be back to look for something else to steal.

I have no use for a thief.

In my area someone actually had an entire singlewide mobile home stolen -- they just backed a truck up and drove off with it. I had nightmares about that one. It's one thing to be burglarized but can you imagine coming home to find your entire house gone? Yeesh.

Hope you had insurance on the generator? That really stinks. I've never had too much stolen, but it's out of proportion irritating when it happens. You think of nothing else for a week: what you could have done, what you would do to them if you caught them, etc, etc, etc. And then the anger when you have to replace the thing . . . I hope you don't let it bother you like it does me--I'm sure it's not healthy.

Hope the police get lucky on it and find it for you.

Jennifer
