Home remedy needed again! This time for sunburn!

Ugh, I got sunburnt so badly the other day, I can hardly sit down....DO NOT ASK!

Anyhow, basically everything from the neck to the knees is so painful I can hardly stand it. Fortunately, no blistering. But that old Solarcaine stuff isn't doing the trick. Any homestyle remedies I can try? Anything else to keep my skin from drying out, I don't want to end up with it all peeling.

Thanks so much!

DD

Aloe vera. Better yet WitchVera. It is usually in the organic section at the grocers and is a combination of witchhazel extract for swelling and itching, and aloe vera for healing. Works great.

A good hand and body moisturizing lotion will help. Your skin is dried out from the burn and you need to put back moisture.

Rinse with vinegar and let it dry. Mustard also works. So does fresh aloe juice. Make sure you drink plenty of water. Wait till it quits stinging to use lotion or anything else with grease in it or else it will keep cooking you.

vinegar. Either dumping it on or you can put about three cups of it in a tub of water and soak for awhile. It draws the sting out. After that to keep the skin smooth aloe/ baby oil.

I've used tea tree oil (diluted) to eliminate itching from a wasp bite, and it didn't swell either. For sunburn relief and healing I'd go with aloe vera also.
'they' say also grapefruit seed extract' is a miracle cure for such things, and I believe skin and sunburn too, but I've never tried it. It might help prevent any infections though? I do know aloe vera has helped me before with sunburn relief. and if it's extreme I once used noxema cream.

I just returned from a trip to Greece to visit my husbands family and my dad got a really bad sunburn. The home remedy everyone suggested was to put yogurt on it, but since that grossed my dad out more than the pain he didn't try it ,so I can't give you a testimonial.

Apple cider vinegar.
I'm fair skinned and I've used it lots of times. Be liberal.
You'll smell funny but you won't care 'cause you'll feel soooo gooood.

I think the most important thing is to get the "heat" out of it first. Soak in a tub of cool water or use cold washcloths, but make sure all of the heat is gone, then use aloe vera or a good moisturer.

Mix liquid benadryl with maalox. My little bro got sun poisoning once and the nurses told my mom to do this. Worked great. Very soothing.

I get sun poisoning easily now and we tea bag our sunburns. Just dampen them in cool water and pat them on the skin. Plus it darkens your tan! The tannin in the tea is what helps bring relief.

Tea bags in the bath work well, also. I've had to use this remedy myself.

Apply any of the following:

Aloe vera gel
Houseleek gel
Raw potato, or potato juice
Raw tomato, or tomato juice
Raw cucumber
Cool, wet teabags (or a cloth soaked in strong, cool tea)
A cloth soaked in a tea made from Calendula petals
essential oil of St. John’s Wort diluted 1:10
Watermelon
the inside of a banana skin
diluted essential oil of lavender
crushed strawberries
lettuce leaves
apple cider vinegar
pure (repeat, PURE vanilla)
cold mashed pumpkin (tinned is OK)

Make a paste with bicarbonate of soda and water and apply to the area.

Simmer 3-5 Peach leaves in about 2 cups sweetened condensed milk for 25 minutes. Cool, then strain. Use the liquid as a lotion for inflamed or bruised areas, abrasions or sunburn. It also works for rashes, shingles and psoriasis.

It's important that you drink plenty of water. Also watch to see that no infection occurs - this is common and can be difficult to treat. If the burns are severe enough to cause blistering, then you really should seek medical treatment, because burns (including sunburn) are regarded as a serious condition that can leave you scarred for life.

I get sunburns easily and get sun poisoning that gets really itchy.
I use cool compresses, do not rub just apply lightly
tea bags
vinegar
and ipubrofen, Advil, etc. really works the best.
for the itchiness, take a vitamin E capsule, poke a hole in it and squeeze onto the
sunburn WITH the sam amount of Olive Oil, spread this wherever it is itchy.
Believe me , it really helps.
