I've bought it at Walmart. I haven't bought any lately, so I don't know the price but it did come in quart and half-gallon size bottles. I like it, it burns clean & bright.

It is a lamp oil, and it burns cleanly and odorlessly -- unlike kerosene, which can be smokey and for sure has an odor, no matter how the manufacturer tries to mask it.

We have picked up liquid paraffin at Ace Hardware, and even found it at Walgreen's once. (They were closing out some Christmas gift lamps.)

I burn kerosene in our pressurized lantern, it makes a noise but the only smell is if I spill some while filling it.

We use a PETROMAX

Paraffin is what the British call kerosene. I think that may be where the confusion lies.

For some, perhaps, but the liquid paraffin I use is just that: liquified paraffin wax. Which is, of course, a petroleum product, but is NOT kerosene.

The liquid paraffin is cleaner and has NO odor at ALL. I get a headache if we burn a lot of the regular kerosene lamp oil.
