Canning Frozen Vegetables

Any of you ever buy frozen vegetables from the grocery store and bring them home and "Can" them? I Was thinking about it and being my freezers are full--I thought it might be away to have more on hand. Thanks Randy

I've never tried it.
The canning process really cooks veggies, softens them up.....I wonder if frozen ones would turn to mush?

I dehydrate frozen vegetables...no blanching needed! But don't try zucchini or mushrooms...what a mess!

I've canned some things from my garden that I froze first. Just didn't have time to can when the stuff came in, or didn't have enough of one thing to can it and had to 'save up'. But I can't see much point in buying frozen veggies to can. Might as well buy canned veggies. Bulk sales should start soon.

You got a point--------I like the taste of the frozen vegetables better than some of the canned, but I guess if I was to can them---probably be about the same as store bought canned stuff, but my pantry would look better with a 1000 jars than 1000 Del Monte cans-----LOL. Randy

Any farm stands around you? Farmer's markets? Now would be the time of year to get bushels of stuff. I bet there are even 'U Pik it' places.

If you are canning it yourself, you can do special stuff like putting onions in with the green beans or making stewed tomatoes, even make huge batches of spaghetti sauce or chili or soups and canning them for quick, homemade meals.
