Hello, I am ZYG and I am addicted to...

Coffee with creamer (NOT milk, milk is for tea).

So that said, anyone have any good recipes that YOU have made for homemade creamers?

Dry Mix first (for storage) then liquid if you got them.

Oh, if you don't like creamer... I am cool with that but I really don't need to hear about why I should not use it, why you don't, or why I should get a cow if I want real creamer. I would love a cow, I just can't commit to a cow and milking presently.

If it weren't for creamer, I wouldn't drink coffee.

I use to add milk, then evaporated milk, now it's non-dairy (sorry cow-people)
It doesn't really matter what brand as long as it's not "lite". That lite-stuff tastes greasy.

I'm unclear as to whether you want a recipe to make your own creamer mix, or if you're looking for recipes that use dry creamer...

I don't have a recipe for making creamer, but you can buy BIG tubs of it at Sam's Club. May as well stock up if you're planning for a SHTF scenario. That stuff has a half-life, not a shelf-life, so you should be reasonably safe picking up a couple 55 gallon drums.

Me, I don't like the stuff for coffee, but it's great in hot chocolate. And yes, I've been known to just grab a spoonful of it and stuff it in my mouth. It's SO bad (just fat and sugar) but it's so GOOD!

Haven't seen a recipe yet and am interested in finding a good substitute also. Canned milk, milk and Silk doesn't work for me.

INFIDELS!!!! No froo-froo creamers in coffee. Good old fashioned half and half with a smidge of sugar and all is right with the world.

SUGAR?????

HERETIC!!!!

Just milk (unless you're at Muller's Farm -- then cream is perfectly wonderful and acceptable).

I use canned milk if I don't have goat milk, with sugar and a dash of cinnamon. I used to use Cremora a long time ago until they came out with a "new and improved" that wasn't! I can use coffemate if I am in a tight but prefer the goat milk or evaporated milk. It seem like the creamer would be easy enough to make with a base of powered milk. I can't think of what else would be needed but there has to be something cause powdered milk alone wouldn't cut it I don't believe.

I want recipes dagnabit. Not stories about the 14 reasons you don't like coffee, or how creamer killed you wife.

ANY recipes of your mixes, whether they are "froo froo" or just a good dry creamer recipe.

The problem with your request is that it requires ingredients that are not readily available to your average Joe Homesteader. That's why I recommended the industrial sized containers to hold you through a prolonged YOYO situation.

But never say never! Let's give it a shot... Hmm... Are any of the following on your shelf?

Corn syrup solids. (What IS a corn syrup solid, anyway?)

Partially Hydrogenated Coconut, Palm Kernal, Soybean, Cottonseed, and/or Safflower Oil .... Ummm...

Sodium Caseinate (is that like cheese or something?)

Dipotassium Phosphate

Sodium Aluminssilicate

Mono and Di glycerides

Artificial Flavor

Annatto Color (What's an annatto?)

Well, I don't know...

How about if you take some dehydrated milk, and mix in some veggie oil, and some ... uh...

I think you'll either have to stock up or switch to milk...

Sorry, ZYG. Looks like only chemical company people can have CoffeeMate when the doo-doo hits the oscillator.

But I can send you the bit that's leftover here from the holidays...

I usually drink coffee with Half & Half (its actually cheaper than the liquified Coffee Mate), but I REALLY LOVE to add heavy whipped cream. The stuff that comes in a half pint carton and you whip yourself. YUM

I live without refrigeration so I understand the need to find nonperishabe recipes for things. I also don't like my coffee just black. so.... What I use in my coffee is a combination of powdered milk and molasses. It sounds weird but it works for me. Yum.

I don't drionk coffee but I found some recipes on the net for you. Most of these are flavored.

http://www.recipegoldmine.com/bevcoffee/bevcoffee4.html

*Toffee Coffee Creamer Mix
1/2 cup dry milk powder
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
Combine ingredients and store in an airtight container. Use 1-2 tsp per cup of coffee.

*Mix together 2 cups instant dry milk and 1-1/2 cups sugar. Add 2/3 cup boiling water and 6 tablespoons melted unsalted butter (omit butter for a nonfat version). Stir until mostly incorporated. Add 1-1/2 cups nonfat milk and two teaspoons vanilla extract, or more to taste. Blend with a hand mixer until smooth and creamy. Keep refrigerated for up to two weeks. Shake well before use.

Try a Goooogle search for "dry coffee creamer recipes". Also, search the cooking & crafts thread. Someone posted some yummy (dry) recipes there not too long ago.
