am I mistaken

or is Kentucky mentioned most often as far as States of the Union are concerned? I get the impression there are more homesteaders in Kentucky than anywhere else. somebody want to do a poll? Just idle curiosity.

I bet there are more in ARkansas and MO but KY definitely has it's fair share. Just curious what is your definition of homesteaders? (hear the sound of that can of worms opening back up?) or are you refering to state of residence of homesteadingtoday members?

I always thought Ohio was the most represented state here.

I'd have to agree. Texas, Arkansas, Ohio all have many more homesteaders, probably because it is much better to live the hs lifestyle there then it is in Caintuck. That being the case seems it would make sense for more folks looking for a place to check those areas, and folks unhappy in the bluegrass to get out while they can and find that perfect place.
Oh, 11 of 20 chicks have hatched as of 15:00---bantams should start tomorrow. I bet even chicks hatch better in those other places now that I think of it.

Farmer Willy, you sound a little bias.

A poll will only let you put 10 choices. I guess we could do 5 separate polls...

Think we could get the moderators to do a sticky with a thread for each of the 50 states (plus Canadian provinces and other countries)?

Coalroad, that's an interesting idea! Or I guess we could just start threads ourselves for whatever state we live in, and others could start threads for their own states if they so desire. That way other countries or provinces could have threads.

I'd guess if you put Texas, Missouri, Arkansas, Ohio, and New York in a poll, you'd find the state with the most members/posters.

It IS, indeed, more often mentioned, but normally in a sentence with familial relations as the subject.

Wasn't there some map website that someone had set up before? Where everyone can stick a pin in the map for where they live??? Ring a bell for anyone?

I can't take any credit. They have a similar forum over on Backyardchickens.

Great ideas! I really like hearing about where everyone is from, love it that most have their location posted! Are there many Kansans here, I know I've seen a FEW...?

And all the while making sure no one buys that good Kentucky property that you have your eye on, eh?
