They say the wooly worms predict the winter. More black than brown means a cold winter, more brown means a mild winter.

My uncle always claimed he saw a bald wooly worm crawling north!

Another good one: In the fall, put a rock in a jar every foggy morning. In the winter, take a rock out of the jar every time it snows. When the jar is empty, winter is over!

Wooly Bears

I have heard the winter predictions by the color of the bear but I saw one last week that honest to God was White! Not albino, the body was dark but the "fur" was white....never saw that before. Anything on what that indicates for winter?

your bear saw a ghost!!!!

as for the other. I don't have wooly worms in my area so I go by the katydid. I've seen 4 and all have been brown or turning brown. Better get that firewood going.

The barn will weather the winter fine with the new coat of paint that the bear crawled through!
