We burn the citronela "tiki torch" fuel directly in kerosene lanters. No problems at all here. I suppose you could cut it with the kerosene to make it a bit cheaper, but I've had no problems at all with the tiki torch fuel in regular kerosene lanterns.

Sure!!!

We can even add it to our main light in our dining room. We have a big 'PETROMAX' lantern [ 500 CP ], and it will burn citronella, or oil, or gasoline, or kerosene, or lard, or any flamable liquid.

Has their own forum:

And detailed troubleshooting pages:

Posters there share what kinds of fuel they have burned in their lanterns and what issued they have had [if any].

Bio-dieseil seems to be gaining popularity.

A PETROMAX will light up a room with 500CP while burning any flammable liquid.

We have had the regular oil lamps, and we have used Aladins, and we have used coleman lanterns; but I see no comparison.

If you want something cheap, to keep you from stumbling in the dark when the power goes out then get an aladin or oil lamp. But if you want to be able to read, play cards, sew, or just light up a larger room; then you really only have one option. Get a PETROMAX.

Citronella Burns well

I'm not sure where you can find it. I'm sure it could be checked out.
I read it somewhere that Citronella burns Brighter.

A few years ago we found that Citronella, in lamps & Lanterns burns
about 20 to 25% brighter than Kerosene or Lamp Oil.
We've been using it ever since, indoors & outside.
Smells nice too.
Costs a little more, though.

Before you pour citronella on your bonfire, you might want to ask your guests if anyone is allergic to or has any respiratory problems with citronella candles.

Most things I am allergic to I can tolerate for a while, but with Citronella I go straight past any mild allergic reactions and immediately start having an asthma attack. I can't even go down a store aisle with wrapped citronella candles on the shelf, let alone get anywhere near burning citronella candle!

So Ask your guests and any nearby neighbors first and you may save someone a trip to the hospital!
