We are looking for a recreational property where we can spend our summers. It has to be near the west coast of Oregon, Northern CA or WA. We used to live in Crescent City, CA so I can't spend the winters there again. This is just for us to visit when our AZ summers get too hot. It should be about 5 acres and cheap. We plan to fish so hope it is fairly near the ocean without being on it. Or, maybe a cheap place to camp. Or caretake during the summer months. We have a 5th wheel so we would just need hookups if anyone has private land they could rent to us. We also have Aussies so they would be coming along. Possibly a herding set up would be good. Our dogs are experienced with our sheep. Thanks.

You know, it's funny how people look at things differently. I spent a summer and fall in that area, to me it's an absolute hole and I would never think of going back, the weather is horrible and the people are worse. It's overcrowded and expensive and just nasty in every way.

So who's right? me or you? Ah, who cares. I hope you find a place you like. But before you do, you might consider looking at the thread about Kentucky land....

Too hot for Minnesotans and UP Michiganers, too cold for me, might be just right for you?

You are right but the people don't matter to me. We are older folks who don't dance, party, etc. We keep to ourselves mostly. Our neighbors in AZ are the best ever! They are extremely helpful when needed but keep to themselves when we want our private moments. The midwest is out I'm afraid as DH absolutely, positively,...hates bugs of any kind!!!! Even flies!!!! I am the daughter of a dad who was from Calumet, MI and mom was from Milwaukee, WI so we have toured the countryside up there. Unfortunately, DH is a CA native. I was able to move him to AZ several years ago and we love our farm in the boonies in So.East, AZ.

Well I certainly know where you are coming from. I am going to have to gentle Mrs Dubai to the realities of living in east Tennessee. She's seen all the good, courtesy of our visit two years ago (we even did a proper overnight hike into the wilds of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park) but she's still getting used to the idea that there's a difference between critters and varmints, and I look forward with a mixture of trepidation and glee to her first encounter with a snake!

Again, best of luck on your search!

Look for unpatented mining property. BLM lets you park for up to two weeks at a time. Buy two parcels and shuttle between them.

Who knows, you might even find minerals.
