Before I went the new route, I'd check out a few things first. There's a relay on the compressor that could possibly be bad, might have a bad condenser fan motor if it's a forced air condenser, might be a bad t-stat. Do a little process of elimination before just buying a new one. Might save a bunch of money. I've seen refrigerators/freezers last 35, 40 even 45 years. Do a little checking before junking it out. Most people I've talked to aren't as happy with their new units as they were the old ones. Most common complaint is "they don't get as cold as the old one did."
