Bad neighbors get what is Due

Here we go . They did not show for the meeting . The SHTF today. Come to find out their septic system is on my property. Under the 20 year rule here so it has to go. The surveyor found this, and I did not know about it until the meeting. Now they are unable to sell unless I grant an easement(like that will happen) or I sell them the land it sits on(Not a chance). They have to restore the land as before a system was there, and put in a new system to even live there.
It will be very interesting. I have talked with my lawyer about this and I will be seeing him on monday. I really do not need this now, but I will have to deal with it.
I will update when I know more. I am very busy on the farm.
Please keep good thoughts sent this way.

Stick it to 'em. I get so tired of people trying to take advantage of nice people. They put out bad karma and now it's coming back 'em. Good.

Whoa-uh! Man, they stirred up a mess! If they'd been decent and helpful neighbors, you might never have even found this out!

Well, reap what you sow. They sowed bitterness, they're gonna reap grief.

I wonder if they're even aware of the major doo-doo they're in?

Good thoughts going your way, Pyrnad!

My thoughts exactly. If they'd just gone about their business and been friendly, no one would even have looked at where their septic was. It just wouldn't have been an issue.

Just keep standing strong while they dig their own hole!

Great goings for you.

And I've also found that if you give someone enough rope, they can hang themselves quite well.

That worked? I mustn't be praying hard enough. Can I send you some names?

Pyrnad -- I'm glad to hear that life has turned and bit them on the... well, you know. My mum also used to say "what goes around comes around" and, as I get older, I realize how very true that is. I wish you could simply be free of them, but it would appear that someone has a lesson in mind for them, and you're the delivery person. Good luck with that -- we're praying for you here.

Tracy

<--- Thanking GOD for the neighbors I have. Even that one that lives a half mile down the road that I can hear their "bass" occasionally.

That is an interesting turn of events.

I'm sure it's not a snap of the fingers & your life is easy now - will be more bumps from people like this.

But at least I would expect you can smile a bit to yourself along the way with this turn of events.

Some type of justice, when goofballs hang themselves that way.

It wouldn't be an issue until it backed up.

I haven't been following this whole thread, but how on earth could someone plunk something as large as a septic system on their neighbor's property without being aware of it? It sounds to me like several people are culpable here... but... wow. I'd be seriously livid if I discovered my neighbor's septic on my property unless it was a genuine miscommunication and mistake between the contractor and the homeowner!

Zounds!

Unbelievable, the mess those folks have created for themselves! Wishing you well, Pyrnad, and hoping you can soon get back to your quiet, homesteading life.

I think that the 1 acre parcel was originally part of the land that pyrnad bought. Perhaps the owner had the home on the parcel before it was sold, and didn't remember that the septic was not on that 1 acre piece that was carved out and sold. Around here, most farmers that have large farms have a mobile home or trailer or two right on their property for the help. That might have been the original use of the parcel.

When it was sold they may not have thought about the placement of the septic, although I always ask about the septic when I purchase a place these days.

Doesn't look too good for these folks though. I bet they run back to the city pronto after this.

Whoo-boy. After the thread on septics in VT (pcdreams may have purchased a parcel which won't support a conventional septic system) and other issues which have cropped up a septic is the FIRST thing I'd look for!

Still.. I'm thinking "resounding lawsuit" against the person who did my legal/inspection work on this property. This is something which should have been discovered on a routine property inspection, title search, thing... isn't it? Talk about a rude shock. For the buyer this is definitely not what they thought they were buying!
