Butter Cups

How can you get rid of butter cups? Me fields are full this year. The goats, cows, and horse don't eat them. I don't want to spray. Will geese eat them?
The ministry of Ag guy told me to spray or keep cutting them down. Cutting wil take years to get rid of them.

Wow, And I Just Paid $1.00 For One Buttercup Plant, Loved The Bright Yellow Flowers, Went In Search For More, And Couldn't Find Any. We Have
The Plant In A Flower Bed, Wonder If We Will Become Overrun With Them.
If You Were Closer I'd Help You Get Rid Of A Few.

Shame on you for wanting to get rid of them!

I don't think geese would work with them. I know our geese sorta pick at them, but wouldn't get rid of it all. Simple fact that my geese just pick at everything without eating the whole thing. Goats might eat it, but you probably wouldn't want to go that route, lol

Our long driveway is lined with buttercups and they are in full bloom right now. :banana02:

Why do you want to get rid of them in the first place? Is it just because you have been trained to think of them as a weed? Are you allergic? Do they make any of your animals sick? Are they interfering with crop growth?

Buttercups are poisonous and the animals have more sense than to eat them. It is for the poisonous aspect that these plants thrive and the bulbs are not eaten by rodents.

Not sure if they are poisonous to geese. You can train geese to eat certain plants by giving a lot of them to the goslings as they are growing. Other than that I'd recommend cross fencing to keep the livestock off of an area and then use Crossbow to kill it. After three weeks or a good rain it would be safe to let the animals back in.

Wow and I have been trying to keep mine alive. Only have a teeny bit for decoration and some kind of worm bug keeps eating the leaves and flowers.
